RTP and House Edge — Explained Simply

RTP, or Return to Player, is a percentage that indicates how much a game pays back on average per ৳100 wagered over the long term. Example: if a game's RTP is 96%, it means an average of ৳96 may be returned per ৳100 bet — but this is a long-term average, and individual rounds do not guarantee this figure.

RTP typically varies across different game categories. Slot games generally have an RTP in the range of 92%–98%, which can vary significantly from game to game. Blackjack, played with the correct strategy, can reach close to 99%. Roulette generally has an RTP of 94%–97%, depending on whether it is European or American roulette.

House edge is the complement of RTP — it represents the casino's average advantage. If the RTP is 96%, the house edge is 4%. This means that over the long term, the casino retains a small portion of every bet. This is normal, and the platform is operated from this revenue.

Knowing about RTP and house edge before playing is a sign of an informed player. A higher RTP means a greater chance of smaller wins each round, while a lower RTP means there may be a chance of larger prizes but a higher likelihood of losing in most rounds. Choose your game according to your own budget and preferences.

Bankroll management is the most important skill for ensuring long-term enjoyment in online gaming. Start by setting a monthly gaming budget — an amount whose loss would have no impact on your daily life. Think of this budget as part of your entertainment expenses.

Once you have set your monthly budget, divide it into smaller sessions. For example, a monthly budget of ৳3,000 can be split into weekly sessions of ৳750. Keeping a separate limit for each session means one bad session will not wipe out your entire budget.

It is recommended not to use more than 1%–5% of your total bankroll on any single bet. Following this rule makes it possible to play for longer and reduces the risk of large losses. Playing for more time at lower stakes increases the entertainment value.

After a win, set a rule for yourself: if you reach a specific target, end the session. For example, stop for the day if your starting balance increases by 50% or 100%. If you keep placing bets with winnings, it becomes difficult to hold on to your profits.

Set a limit for after a loss — this is called a "stop-loss limit." If you lose a certain amount in one session, stop playing for the day. Placing more bets to recover losses often makes the situation worse. Coming back the next day with a clear head is the wiser choice.

Track your playing history — when you played, how much you spent, how much you won or lost. Keeping this record will help you understand for yourself where you need to show restraint. Always view gaming as entertainment — not as a source of income.
